New generation magnesium for athletes – discover Magtein®

07.04.2025

Physical effort is not only about muscles – it’s also about focus, reflexes, and resilience to stress. That’s why more and more athletes reach for dietary supplements that also support the nervous system. Magtein®, or magnesium L-threonate, is an innovative form of magnesium that stands out for its potential in supporting brain health. So what should you know about it?

What is Magtein® and what makes it special?

Magtein® is a patented form of magnesium L-threonate, developed by scientists at MIT. Unlike traditional forms of this mineral, this molecule was designed with one goal in mind: effectively increasing magnesium levels in the brain. And that’s exactly what it does best – as one of the forms that can efficiently cross the blood–brain barrier, reaching areas where other types of magnesium have limited access [1].

Why is this important for physically active people? Because the nervous system plays a key role not only in recovery, but also in making quick decisions, maintaining focus, and coping with stress during effort. Magtein® supports psychological functions, helps maintain proper functioning of the nervous system, and reduces feelings of fatigue and tiredness – exactly what you need when your body and mind are working at full speed.

Why do athletes need magnesium?

Magnesium is mainly associated with preventing muscle cramps – and rightly so, as it plays a crucial role in their proper function [2]. But its role goes much further. For active individuals, it is also an essential nutrient supporting the nervous system, and thus concentration, mental resilience, and reaction speed [3].

Every workout challenges not only the muscles, but also the brain. You need focus, clear thinking, good motor memory, and quick responses – especially under pressure. This is where magnesium comes into play, as it:

  • supports the proper functioning of the nervous system,

  • contributes to psychological functions such as concentration and decision-making,

  • reduces feelings of tiredness and fatigue,

  • helps maintain normal energy metabolism, influencing energy levels and recovery,

  • and supports muscle function and protein synthesis.

Magtein®, as a modern form of magnesium that effectively acts in the brain, supports not only muscles but also the “command center” of every athlete. Training becomes more complete when you take care of both your body and your nervous system.

Effectiveness confirmed by research

Good results are no coincidence – neither in sports nor in supplementation. Magtein® is a dietary supplement whose effectiveness has been confirmed in clinical studies. In one of them, conducted among healthy adults aged 50–70, participants took Magtein® or a placebo for 12 weeks [3].

The result? Those using Magtein® showed significant improvements in areas such as working memory, attention, executive function, and episodic memory – precisely the skills that matter for athletes too: planning, focus, quick reaction, and memorizing movement patterns [3].

It is worth adding that improvements in so-called cognitive ability, measured with a set of tests, were already observed after 6 weeks of supplementation [3]. For physically active individuals, this may translate into quicker reactions during games, faster decision-making on the field, or greater resistance to distractions during training.

Another study [4] comparing magnesium L-threonate with a placebo showed:

  • improved sleep quality, particularly in deep and REM phases,

  • improved mood and reduced irritability,

  • increased energy, alertness, as well as daily activity and productivity,

  • and confirmed that Magtein® is safe and well tolerated by the body.

This demonstrates that magnesium L-threonate has a broad, positive impact on nervous system health.

Thoughtful form and clean composition

Magtein® offers not only effectiveness, but also a well-designed delivery form. The supplement comes in convenient plant-based (pullulan) capsules. It is suitable for vegan and halal diets.

The formula contains only magnesium L-threonate (Magtein®) and the capsule shell – nothing more. It is a supplement based on minimalism and maximum quality. The recommended intake is 3 capsules daily – 2 in the morning and 1 in the evening (about an hour before bedtime). This regimen follows the body’s natural circadian rhythm and helps maintain steady magnesium levels in the blood and brain – supporting recovery, concentration, and mental resilience throughout the day.
